Have you seen "The Curse of the Cat People"--connected by just a fragile hair to the original panther plot, but keeps your interest start to finish, odd movie to have that title.

Monograms-- teased about having 'delusions of grandeur' when I was little enough that neither word was in my vocabulary. I know it's silly to put one's initials on a mass-produced object, I'm sure it's somehow connected to crests and coats of arms and heraldry I saw in books. Self-importance, those catalogs full of "personalized" items, gangs, graffiti, branding (the "Coca-Cola" font), icons--(nationalism, wars!) all connected. I wonder if Bill Gates has one of those three-sided name things on his desk? See my point--why on earth would he need one? Little tyrants, silly me. (He probably doesn't even have *checks* with his name on them!)
Our US $$, as Barack Obama likes to point out, pictures white males. The Euro money has no people pictured, that must have been intentional? (I agree that anyone can invent a monogram, but the *reason to do so* is not so democratic.)
I've been reading about the English Knole estate AND re-reading "Animal Farm" -- my strong attraction to both lifestyles of course jerking me back and forth!Rosemary in Utahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00368563504158928668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7577067803721337165.post-72093147761521234712008-08-19T07:36:00.000+01:002008-08-19T07:36:00.000+01:00Ah but the original Cat People is even better and ...Ah but the original Cat People is even better and scarier by suggestion.

Monograms are wonderful - they can be re-used by others and the various combinations of letters interplay with their lines and curves to create a unified whole. Monograms are democratic because anyone can invent one.Griffinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03863034333159354009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7577067803721337165.post-27722467424127252622008-08-18T19:08:00.000+01:002008-08-18T19:08:00.000+01:00"N K"...hmm...remember Nastassja Kinski in the rem..."N K"...hmm...remember
Nastassja Kinski
in the remake of that cool old movie "Cat People"?

I love initials and monograms on things though I suppose it's very pretentious.
