I've written tales, but this time thought I'd wing it,
And for you all therefore, I wrote the following sonnet.
And for you all therefore, I wrote the following sonnet.
I wrote the powerful name of Love upon a wall
In letters of storm-defying, time-proofed gold
And round that name placed nails hard and cruel
For all those who loved and met a heart too cold.
Let all who would love find Love's purest joys
And be untouched by dark rejection's sting
For the heart and mind are not Cupids toys,
But thrive on the caress of love's bright wing.
For those I love and have loved I wrote that name,
And hammered in the cruel nails within that wall
For some have lost and found playing Love's game;
And some have loved most true and had a fall
For I have fallen and will never Love again,
Tho' others may risk Love's impassioned flame.

Griffin, Sonneteer!
Pretty lines you have written-- (das dreizehnte ist nicht wahr, bitte!)
I just couldn't think of a story, so I sonneted instead.
Glad you liked it.
I really like this, very simple. Very poignant. Like another texture to your work.
I love this image. To see 'Love' engraved/carved on a wall and gilded, yet surrounded with nails... a reminder of the Christian idea of Christ as a symbol of love, nailed on the cross.
My greatest inspiration for the sonnet is Shakespeare - in Hamlet but also in his own sonnets - about timeless love.
Glad you liked it.
what be love?
dear G...can you hear Billy S applauding?
